Austin ParkerAs well being our Co-founder, President, and Podcast Host, Austin is an endangered species wildlife biologist in southern California and Resource Advisor for federal wild land fires. After working in conservation in Jamaica, Costa Rica, and Chilean Patagonia, Austin began working on habitat conservation and wildlife biology in southern California. Among other certifications, he holds US Fish and Wildlife recovery permits for California gnatcatchers, El Segundo blue butterfly, and Palos Verdes Blue Butterfly. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Studies from the University of San Diego and Master's degree in Biology from Miami University of Ohio via San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance and Project Dragonfly.

Taylor Parker Taylor has been working on encouraging conservation conversations since 2004. As a conservation social scientist, environmental consultant, and explorer, Taylor focuses on conservation area management, endangered species and biodiversity issues. After working with coastal habitat protection in southern California with Tidal Influences, LLC, he worked on conservation projects in the Saguaro, Yellowstone, and New Zealand, before returning to graduate school to study humans. He earned a Master's degree and received his PhD in Conservation Social Science from Clemson University. Taylor hosts the twice monthly Pelecanus News podcast.

As a conservation collective, we look to the leaders who came before us to guide us in our organization's actions, and Michael Soule said it best when referring to his perspective on the fate of biodiversity as neither optimism or pessimism, but rather "possibilism." He believed that rooted deep with humans is the ability to alter our future and connect back to nature. Pelecanus believes this and the following set of values guide our work:
